Georgina Hoby Scutt
Georgie works across a range of media – painting on linen, plywood and canvas; also producing screen prints on paper. Informed by her print & pattern design background, Georgie develops distinctive, warm and earthy colour palettes and paints with broad expressive brushstrokes. Her work is primarily semi-abstracted landscapes, still lifes and portraits.
“I spent five years in Barcelona working as a freelance print and textile designer, before returning to New Zealand and taking time out to have a family. I began painting original artworks in 2016. I am influenced by abstract expressionism, gesturalism and the Fauves; contemporary fashion and interiors.
For me, the creative process is intuitive, exploratory, challenging and hugely joyful.”
