“In these works I challenge my doubts and beliefs that anything is possible, that dreams really do come true. There is also a plunge into the unknown subtly represented in these paintings, a leap of faith into what cannot be seen, what lies beneath, what hides around the corner. All we need to do is to take that risk, the first step, and surrender to the unknown. Then the real adventure begins. My studio overlooks the sea and influences the way I think and create. It’s forever changing moods, one moment calm and serene, the next rough and unforgiving, always with the freedom to do as it pleases, being accountable to no one. The constant ebb and flow of the tides with its contrasting colours and textures incites both peacefulness and restlessness in my moods and creativity. It is the joy and the fun that the ocean delivers to us that I have tried to capture in these works. A Leap of Faith is about taking that risk, not waiting or you may be waiting all your life.
